A baby-giant of 5, 200 kg. was born at University hospital Kanev in Ruse. This has been the biggest baby born at the hospital since the beginning of this year.
Baby Sarach is the second child of mother Seher and husband Reza, who live in Targoviste village Krepch. Although the mom had a normal pregnancy, she chose to have the baby in Ruse.
As the fetus was big, the doctors opted for a caesarean section. At first the mother found it hard to believe the fact that her baby is a real giant. Her first child was also quite big at birth, but not any near the size of the younger sibling.
My first child was 3,900 kg at birth and we are not very tall or large. I didn’t expect the second one to be that big. I expected it to be over 4 kg – 4 kg and a half, but I didn`t expect him to be 5,200 kg, to be honest. When I was told I had no reaction, I just repeated it to myself and started thinking – how can he be 5,200, he’s grown a lot, „says Seher Raimova with a smile. She has already chosen a beautiful name for her second son, Sarach, which means „light.“
Doctors say such babies are rare.
„Normally children at birth are from 2,500 to 4,500 kg. Over 4,500 kg is now considered a large fetus. Babies over 5 kg are sometimes born, but it is not very common, it is quite unusual, ”says Dr. Ani Mateeva, a senior doctor at the Maternity ward of the Kanev Hospital in Rousse.
Although Surach is the biggest baby of the year, the record holder for Ruse for the last five years remains young Burke from the village of Smirnenski, who was born in 2015 weighing 5 kg and 350 grams.
